Purpose of Position:
The role of the Step Up Louisiana Shreveport Parent Union Organizer will be to organize with parents across the city and to coordinate the labor, faith, and community organizing work in Shreveport for Step Ups education justice campaigns.

Step Up Louisiana is affiliated with the Center for Popular Democracy, which has more than 50 affiliate organizations around the United States who work to create equity, opportunity, and a dynamic democracy. We are also affiliated with the Journey for Justice Alliance, a Black-led alliance of grassroots community, youth, and parent-led organizations in 30 cities across the country organizing to win community-driven alternatives to the privatization of and dismantling of public school systems.

Physical Requirements:
The position is based in Shreveport, LA. Work is generally performed from a field office setting or other location to complete the required assignments of the position. Long and extended hours and overnight travel will be required.
