Employee Type: Full-Time, School Year Only, Hourly, Non-Exempt
Hours: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, Monday through Friday
Summary The custodian is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment for students, staff, and visitors within the school building and grounds. This position plays a vital role in ensuring that the school is a healthy and welcoming place for learning.

duties requested by the supervisor and/or school administrator.
- Clean and sanitize classrooms, offices, restrooms, hallways, cafeteria, gymnasium, and other school spaces daily.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust as needed to maintain a neat environment.
- Empty trash and recycling receptacles and ensure proper disposal
- Set up and break down furniture and equipment for school events, meetings, and activities.
- Maintain safe conditions by promptly addressing spills, hazards, and weather-related concerns such as snow/ice removal wet floors.
- Ensure the buildings are kept locked and secured at all times.
- Assist with delivery and storage of supplies, furniture, and equipment.
- Monitor and replenish cleaning and restroom supplies as needed.
- Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper use and storage of cleaning chemicals.
- Provide winter clean up and snow removal from walkways and steps
- Promote good citizenship through actions as a role model
- Conduct themselves according to professional, ethical principles that reflect favorably upon the individual and the school
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism in a school environment.
- Assume other responsibilities assigned by supervisor and/or school administrator
- Abide by the CCS Employee Handbook, CCS policies and procedures, and all current PA Public School expectations
Qualifications - High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior custodial or maintenance experience in a school or similar setting preferred.
- Must hold a valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
- Reliability, punctuality, and ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment.
- Proficiency with basic computer operations
- Required Clearances include PA Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse Clearance, and FBI Fingerprint Clearance, all dated within one year of receipt
- Meets criteria for employment in a PA Public School

- Ability to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs, and reach overhead
- Ability to lift up to 150 pounds utilizing appropriate equipment
- Exposure to cleaning chemicals, noise, and occasional contact with bodily fluids (using proper protective equipment).
- Must be able to use both hands for repetitive motions
- Some bending and twisting of the body are required
- Must be able to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Noise level in the work environment is usually mild to moderate depending on the specific site
