The North Dakota Department of Labor and Human Rights enforces the states labor, wage, and human rights laws and provides public education to promote understanding and compliance. We are a small, cohesive agency that values professionalism and teamwork.

What Youll Do:

As a Compliance Investigator II, youll conduct structured interviews, review documentation, analyze facts, and apply legal standards to reach objective, law-based determinations. Your day will include preparing clear investigative reports, responding to public inquiries, and facilitating neutral resolution discussions. This role requires strong written communication, legal reasoning, and investigative curiosity. It is best suited for someone who thrives on complex problem?solving and can operate effectively without black?and?white answers. Every case is a new challenge, and like a good puzzle, success comes from connecting the right pieces with precision and insight.

Minimum Qualifications

A bachelors degree in criminal justice, legal, public administration, human rights, human services, sociology, business administration, public policy, or other closely related field, and at least two years of relevant work experience in investigations, auditing, regulatory compliance, law enforcement, legal services, or labor standards enforcement;

Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered; and

A masters degree in one of the above fields may substitute for the work experience requirement on a year?for?year basis.

Remote work available anywhere in North Dakota or hybrid work with office space in Bismarck

$63,600 per year or $5,300 monthly with up to a 5% increase after successful completion of one (1) year probation.
