Key Responsibilities of the Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster:

  • Conduct thorough and objective investigations to determine compensability on claims, leveraging all available resources to ensure a complete and accurate assessment.
  • Develop and execute optimal claim resolution strategies, weighing all options and consulting with management to determine the best course of action.
  • Proactively facilitate the safe and timely return of injured workers to appropriate work, ensuring all medical treatment is directly related to the accepted injury.
  • Utilize your knowledge of medical terminology and procedures to engage and direct necessary resources effectively.
  • Evaluate and negotiate moderate dispute claims, and skillfully handle litigated claims with minor issues, providing support on litigation strategy as needed.
  • Uphold all Claims Quality Guidelines, handling instructions, and applicable regulations while maintaining required licenses in good standing.
  • Accurately set reserves and issue timely payments, projecting future benefits including scarring and loss of use.
  • Consider and manage Medicare and other potential exposures early in the life of the claim.

Qualifications of the Workers' Compensation Claims Adjuster:

  • Bachelor’s degree or 3–5 years of relevant workers’ compensation claims experience.
  • Comprehensive understanding of WC law, claim procedures, and medical treatment guidelines.
  • Tech-savvy with proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrated empathy, professionalism, and a customer-first mindset.
  • Reliable transportation is required for occasional local errands.
