Position : Student Success Coach Department : Student Affairs Reports to : Director of Student Affairs and the TRIO Program Job Status :Full-Time Primary Responsibilities: The primary goal is improving retention by mitigating challenges that prevent students from attaining academic success. Required Skills: Must have strong written and oral communication skills List helpful qualities/skills: Familiarity with social services a plus Required and Preferred Educational and Experience Qualifications: Bachelor's degree; Two years direct experience with students in a post-secondary education institution. Connections to County Assistance and Social Services Offices throughout the Tri-State Area a strong plus. Familiarity with PA Cares is a strong plus. Primary Responsibilities: Meet with referred students, and work with them to assess current situations, supports, needs, and areas for concern. Act as a liaison with Career Services, Counseling, Financial Aid, Student Affairs, and other student facing departments for program students. Assist students who are receiving or may be eligible to receive government facilitated support. Conducting outreach to County Assistance Offices and other community organizations; confer with case managers and arrange student support services, such as transportation allowances, books, and career-related clothing and equipment. Creating community connections and engaging community organizations to provide stronger resources for students. Work with students enrolled in college courses to provide academic support and assistance, including program planning, tutoring, information giving and assistance completing forms. Maintain close contact with County Assistance Office personnel to monitor student performance, arrange necessary support services, Prepare and submit reports to relevant stakeholders. Additional Duties: Assist with the assessment of Scholarship and Hardship Applications for referred students. Perform other related duties as necessary and as assigned.
