Senior Cloud Security Engineer- Lead New Award 5 Years Hybrid 2 days Onsite 3 days from Home Location: Washington DC 1155 21st Street, NW, Washington, D.C.
Clearance: Must be a US Citizen Active Public Trust Required Our customer is seeking Systems is seeking an experienced Senior Security Engineer- Azure Environment to support a federal agency’s enterprise cybersecurity program. This hybrid position combines technical leadership, hands-on engineering, and direct support to a government Security Operations Center (SOC). As a Senior Security Engineer, you will serve as a technical subject matter expert (SME) for network and endpoint security, helping to secure mission-critical systems, integrate advanced cyber defense tools, and guide the agency’s cybersecurity maturity. What You’ll Do · Act as Senior network and endpoint security within the SOC.
· Troubleshoot and resolve ServiceNow tickets.
· Perform maintenance and upgrades on security tools (onsite & remote).
· Create/update security network diagrams using Microsoft Visio.
· Support compliance with NIST 800-53 standards.
· Recommend and present new security tools and enhancements to government stakeholders. What We’re Looking For · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
· 7+ years of cybersecurity experience, including 4+ years in security engineering.
· Hands-on experience with at least 6-8 of the following: CrowdStrike, Microsoft Defender for Endpoint, Cisco Firepower, ExtraHop, ForeScout, Gigamon.
· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
· Familiarity with scripting (Python, PowerShell).
· Knowledge of NIST 800-53 controls. Preferred (Nice to Have) · Experience with Cisco Routing/Switching, Firepower IPS/Firewall, or Web Security Appliance (WSA).
· Familiarity with SIEM tools, data lakes, and security analytics.
· Security certifications (Security+, CISSP, SANS GIAC, CCNA, Microsoft AZ-900).
