Job Overview Apply for the Probation and Parole Officer District 4 role at State of Missouri . A position in the Missouri Department of Corrections is more than a job. It’s a calling. Responsibilities Investigate offender’s home/work/social environments for circuit courts/Parole Board; collect, verify and evaluate data; incorporate into reports and records; assess needs and risk levels to determine appropriate supervision strategies. Contact offenders at home, places of employment or confinement and counsel them regarding personal/adjustment problems; attend court to receive assignments and submit reports. Assist in vocational, educational, and social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperate with public/private agencies and law enforcement; investigate offender violations; take appropriate action including issuance of warrants. Prepare statistical reports of activities; administer/observe breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; assist in special investigations/research projects; serve on committees/task forces; perform other related work as assigned. Qualifications Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant within the Missouri Department of Corrections, OR four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework, law enforcement, counseling, mental health, substance use, public administration, or a closely related field; possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license. Successful completion of safety training including defensive tactics and ability to re-qualify annually. Valid vehicle operator’s license. (Earned credit hours from an accredited college or university may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required experience at a rate of 30 earned credit hours for one year.)   • 2.00 per hour shift differential for 24/7 congregate care facility shift (12:00pm-5:00am).
  • 0.75 per hour maximum security stipend for full-time work at qualifying facility.
  • 1.00 per hour restrictive housing stipend for regular post within a restraining housing/segregation unit.
Other Information Guaranteed 1% pay increase for every two years of continuous service up to 20 years. Promotion from within policy.
