Payroll Tax Specialist

Are you a payroll tax expert ready to make an immediate impact in a dynamic, multi-state environment? Our clienta nationally recognized organization with operations across all 50 statesis seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist to join their team on a contract basis. This is a high-visibility opportunity to work alongside a seasoned payroll team and contribute to critical tax compliance operations.

What Youll Tackle

• Manage payroll tax accounts across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.
• Resolve tax notices and liaise directly with agenciesconfidence and follow-through are key.
• Ensure unemployment rates are accurate and updated.
• Support year-end processes including W-2/T4 reconciliation and corrections.
• Maintain compliance with all payroll tax laws and internal documentation standards.
• Collaborate with third-party vendors and internal stakeholders to resolve complex tax issues.

What Were Looking For

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll tax experience (multi-state required).
• Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local tax regulations California experience is a plus.
• Experience using Smart Compliance or similar tax systems.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skillsthis team manages over 50 federal ID numbers.
• Ability to work independently and handle sensitive information with discretion.
• FPC or CPP certification preferred but not required.

• Availability for occasional evening or weekend work during peak periods (remote permitted).
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
• Strong Excel skills and a proactive, solutions-oriented mindset.
