Job Description

Hourly Pay Range: $17.86 - $25.00 - The hourly pay rate offered is determined by a candidate's expertise and years of experience, among other factors. Position Highlights: Sign on bonus: None Position: Patient Transporter Location: Arlington Heights, IL Full time, 40 weekly hours Hours:M-F 3p-10:30p, rotating weekends & holidays Required Travel: None What you will need: The level of knowledge normally obtained through completion of four years of high school or equivalent. Minimum of one year of college or vocational schooling preferred. Must successfully complete and maintain a minimum standard of American Heart Association Adult Heart saver CPR and AED training within 3 months of hire. The interpersonal skills necessary to effectively interact in a positive manner with patients, their families, nursing staff and physicians. The verbal and written English skills necessary to clearly and effectively communicate information. The organizational skills necessary to prioritize and complete transport tasks in a timely manner. Responds positively to changes and shows willingness to learn new ways to accomplish tasks in an efficient manner. The ability to use and apply correct body mechanics when positioning and transporting patients. What you will do: Responsible for the safe and efficient physical transport of patients within the hospital including admission and discharge transports, unit to diagnostic testing department transports and return trips. May be required to transport equipment and supplies necessary to support the mission of the department and/or the hospital. Transports patients to and from various locations within the hospital with the utilization of stretchers, beds or wheelchairs that may include special equipment (Oxygen tanks, IV pumps, and traction frames) and/or special care considerations. Works under the direction of the Patient Transport Dispatcher to receive, accept, execute and complete transport assignments. Displays a positive, customer service attitude and demeanor with all patients, patient family members, clinical staff and medical staff. Transfers, with the assistance of clinical staff, patients to and from bed, stretcher, exam tables and wheelchairs utilizing proper lifting techniques, and lift devices as necessary. Maintains transport equipment: ensures equipment is in good working condition prior to use, disinfects equipment before and after each transport, returns equipment to its proper storage location at the end of each transport. Adheres to all regulatory requirements and hospital policies regarding patient safety, patient privacy, patient identification and hand-off communications. Adheres to all Northwest Community Hospital and the Central Patient Transporter departmental standards, policies, and procedures.
