Job Description

Overview Weld metal components with welding equipment to fit and join, fabricate, and/or repair heavy and large mechanical products per specifications and in accordance with the production schedule. Under the direction and supervision of the Department Production Manager and in cooperation with the Production Supervisor and Production Lead. Responsibilities Adhere to all safety rules and perform work at a quality level. Read and understand assigned blueprints prior to starting a project. Participate in process and product development and improvement programs. Accurately inspect metal prior to welding to ensure clean welds. Perform grinding operations that comply with Astec’s standards. Ability to perform grinding and pass a required welding skills test. Safe operation of gang-welding techniques and welding vertical, flat, and overhead with both MIG and stick. Inspect metal prior to welding for smoothness; ensure clean, presentable welds (grinding). Work with Fitters on proper assembly of equipment and keep work area clean and neat. Clock in on assigned jobs and ensure welding machine settings are appropriate for the work. Safely use cranes and forklifts; PPE requirements for welding (hood, filter shades, arm/body protection). Read and understand weld symbols; maintain welding machines (cleaning, changing liners). Follow company policies and safety rules; perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Ability to perform grinding and be able to pass a required welding skills test. Must be able to safely weld vertical, flat, and overhead with MIG and stick. Must be able to read and understand weld symbols. Must be trained in PPE requirements for welding. #J-18808-Ljbffr ASTEC
