Position: Linguist II (Hindi Language) Location: NYC / Burlingame, CA / Seattle, WA Duration: 9 Months Contract (Possible Extension) Job ID: 170349 Job Overview: We are seeking a Linguist II to support the development of language components for various voice-enabled technologies and products. The ideal candidate will have native or near-native fluency in Hindi, strong linguistic data analysis skills, and experience in language technology. This role involves managing data collection, LLM-powered data synthesis, data annotation tasks, prompt engineering, localization, and quality evaluations. Responsibilities Provide linguistic expertise in syntax, semantics, pragmatics, and sociolinguistics. Collaborate with linguists and data operations teams on data collection, curation, translation, localization, and annotation efforts. Evaluate and curate datasets for machine learning models using LLM solutions. Assess model and data quality. Perform prompt engineering tasks. Develop complex and consistent linguistic analyses collaboratively. Qualifications Master’s degree in Linguistics, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field. Native or near-native fluency in Hindi. Awareness of Indian languages and their linguistic, cultural, and local nuances. Knowledge of syntax, semantics, pragmatics, sociolinguistics, and corpus linguistics. Experience working with speech and text data in multiple languages. Familiarity with Large Language Models (LLMs), prompt engineering, and their applications. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, collaborative, and dynamic environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with database queries and data analysis tools (e.g., SQL, spreadsheets, R, Unix). Preferred Qualifications PhD in Linguistics, Romance Languages, Computational Linguistics, Speech Science, or a related field. Proficiency in Python.
