Job Description

Job Description

We are partnering with a leading pharmaceutical client to identify two Instructional Designers to join their Operations Quality Learning & Development team. In this role, you’ll collaborate with business process owners, subject matter experts, and learning partners to design and deliver high-quality training and communication solutions. You’ll help ensure employees across the organization have engaging, effective, and accessible learning experiences that align with business priorities.

This is a hybrid role with a requirement to be commutable to one of the following locations: Boston, Gaithersburg (MD), Durham/Raleigh, Coppell (TX), Wilmington or Newark (DE), New Haven (CT), New York City, or South San Francisco. The hybrid policy is about 60% onsite, though there is some flexibility for consultants.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with SMEs and stakeholders, including executive-level leaders, to assess needs and design effective learning and communication programs.
  • Manage projects from start to finish, including planning, design, development, and delivery of learning materials and events.
  • Apply adult learning principles to create engaging, inclusive, and measurable learning experiences.
  • Develop and update eLearning, videos, graphics, decks, tip sheets, reference materials, and other multimedia-heavy content.
  • Ensure the highest level of production quality, with a focus on visual design and overall learner experience.
  • Support a highly visible professional development initiative: the Modern Quality Profession program, which centers on excellence beyond process compliance.
  • Contribute to uplifting training across the company, enhancing consistency, accessibility, and overall impact.
  • Incorporate best practices in accessibility, assessment, learner engagement, and emerging technologies, including AI-driven tools.
  • Work as part of a global team, contributing to meetings, shared initiatives, and cross-functional projects.

Start Date: Late September

Duration: Through the end of 2025, with potential extension

Hours: 40 hours per week; standard business hours

Location: Hybrid (commutable to listed locations above)

Experience Required:

  • A degree, certification, or equivalent experience in instructional design, education, communications, multimedia, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of instructional design and development experience, ideally within a regulated industry (pharmaceuticals/GXP experience preferred).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across global teams and organizational levels.
  • Proven project management, problem-solving, and critical thinking abilities.
  • Hands-on experience with eLearning authoring tools and multimedia development (Articulate Storyline, Adobe Suite, Camtasia, Vyond, Audacity, or similar).
  • Familiarity with adult learning theory, blended learning, and assessment strategies.
  • Experience with Degreed is a nice-to-have.
  • Comfortable conducting analysis, collaborating with high-level SMEs, and advocating for your work and questions.
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and “mini projects” in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • A growth mindset, openness to feedback, and ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and approaches.
  • Must be able to share a portfolio of work samples.
  • A background check and/or drug screen may be required.

The pay range for this is $55.00 to $65.00 per hour W2. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, relevant education, certifications and specific work location.
