Ralph L. Wadsworth Construction Company, located in Draper, Utah, seeks five (5) full-time, temporary concrete finishers. Duties include smoothing and finishing surfaces of poured concrete floors, walls, sidewalks, or curbs to specified textures by performing the following duties. May be designated according to specific work performed. Essential duties and responsibilities include the following: follow safety rules at all times; spread concrete into inaccessible sections of forms with rake or shovel; level concrete to specified depth and workable consistency, with hand held screed and floats to bring water to surface and produce soft topping; smooth and shape surfaces of freshly poured concrete; mold expansion joints and edges; produce rough concrete surface with broom; mix cement with hoe or concrete-mixing machine; break up and repair old concrete surfaces; and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements: No education required. Three months experience required. In lieu of the three months of experience in a construction occupation (civil, commercial, or residential are all acceptable), employer would accept either a suitable combination of education, training, and experience that it deems to be equivalent to three months of experience as a concrete finisher or related occupation. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently and 75 pound occasionally. Travel is required to client worksites located throughout Adams, Denver, and Park counties. Employer will provide transportation to all worksites. On-the-job training is provided.
Wage: $27.53 per hour, paid every week (weekly). Overtime is available at $41.30.
Schedule: 60 hours per week (Monday -- Saturday); normal schedule 7 am to 5 pm. A single workweek will be used to compute wages due. All deductions from the worker's paycheck required by law will be made. Workers can elect to have employer secure housing if needed, in which case the worker's pro rata share of the actual housing costs (rent, utilities, and renter's insurance), which will be reasonable and based on the fair value of such benefit, will be deducted from the worker's paycheck (if authorized by the worker). Current monthly housing cost per worker is approximately $500, including the pro rata share of rent, utilities, and renter's insurance. Transportation and subsistence: If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will pay directly for and/or reimburse the workers for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. If required under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), the employer will make such reimbursement within the first workweek. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay during the last workweek for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer or where the employer has appropriately reported a worker's voluntary abandonment of employment. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distances involved. Daily subsistence during travel will be provided from a minimum rate of $16.28 per day (without receipts) to a maximum of $68.00 per day (with receipts). Daily transportation is provided by the employer from employer-secured housing to intended worksites. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period. The employer will provide workers at no charge all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job.
H-2B workers will be reimbursed in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by government (excluding passport fees).
