We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Chief Engineer to oversee the maintenance, operation, and efficiency of all building systems within our commercial facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems, as well as extensive knowledge of building automation systems. The Chief Engineer will lead a team of skilled technicians, manage vendor relationships, and ensure the building's infrastructure is operating at peak performance.

Responsibilities:

  1. Leadership and Team Management:
    • Supervise and lead a team of engineers and maintenance staff.
    • Provide guidance, support, and technical expertise to ensure the team's success.
    • Foster a collaborative and proactive work environment.
  2. Building Systems Oversight:
    • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
    • Implement preventive maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
    • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  3. HVAC Systems Management:
    • Oversee the operation and maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
    • Implement energy-efficient strategies to optimize HVAC performance.
    • Respond promptly to HVAC-related issues to maintain occupant comfort.
  4. Building Automation Systems (BAS):
    • Manage and optimize the Building Automation System for efficient building operation.
    • Utilize data and analytics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective measures.
  5. Equipment Procurement and Vendor Management:
    • Identify, evaluate, and recommend new technologies and equipment for building systems.
    • Manage relationships with contractors, vendors, and service providers.
    • Negotiate contracts and ensure the timely completion of projects.
  6. Emergency Response and Safety:
    • Develop and implement emergency response plans for building systems.
    • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and conduct regular safety drills.
    • Respond to emergencies promptly and effectively.
  7. Budget Management:
    • Develop and manage the annual budget for building maintenance and operations.
    • Monitor expenditures, identify cost-saving opportunities, and report on budget performance.

Requirements

  • Maryland 3rd class mechanical license.
  • Proven experience as a Chief Engineer or similar role in commercial building management.
  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and building automation systems.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of local building codes, regulations, and safety standards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
